Underwear

Measuring waist circumference and hip circumference is essential for determining the appropriate underwear size. Here’s how these measurements are used:

Waist Circumference

This measurement is taken around the narrowest part of your waist, usually just above your belly button. It's important because it helps ensure that the waistband of the underwear fits comfortably without being too tight or too loose.

Hip Circumference

This measurement is taken around the widest part of your hips and buttocks. It ensures that the underwear fits properly around your hips and provides adequate coverage and comfort.

To measure these accurately:

  • Use a soft measuring tape.
  • For the waist, wrap the tape around your waist, parallel to the floor, at the narrowest point.
  • For the hips, wrap the tape around the fullest part of your hips and buttocks, ensuring the tape is level and snug but not too tight.

These measurements can then be compared to the following size chart.

BRA

Measuring cup size involves two key measurements: the band size and the bust size.

Band Size: Measure around your ribcage, just under your bust. Make sure the measuring tape is snug but not too tight. Round this measurement to the nearest whole number. This is your band size.

Bust Size: Measure around the fullest part of your bust, making sure the measuring tape is parallel to the ground and not too tight. Round this measurement to the nearest whole number.

Once you have these measurements, you can determine your cup size using the difference between your bust size and your band size. Each inch of difference corresponds to a cup size:

Tips for Always Getting a Bra That Fits

Try on Several Bras:
Test out at least a dozen bras to ensure the best fit, even if you have your measurements handy.
Focus on the Band:
The band provides a lot of support, so ensure it's measured correctly. It should sit flat and centered on your rib cage.
Replace Bras that Don't Fit:
If a bra no longer hugs your ribs, it's time to let it go.
Re-Measure with Weight Changes:
If your weight changes, especially around the waist, re-measure yourself. Changes in waist size often affect bust size too.
Consider Band and Cup Size Together:
Adjust both band and cup size if one changes, as they usually go hand in hand.
Professional Fitting Can Help:
If available, a professional fitting can be beneficial.
Ensure Comfortable Straps:
Straps should sit comfortably on your shoulders without digging in or slipping off.
Back Band Position:
The back band should sit slightly lower than the front, feeling snug but not tight. If it causes bulging, it's too tight.
