HUMMINGBIRDS STORIES

One day in the jungle, a fire broke out. All the animals ran out of the jungle, fearing for their lives.

Suddenly, the jaguar saw a little hummingbird head.

The jaguar asked him what he was doing, and the hummingbird said "I am flying to the lake to get water to help out the fire." The jaguar laugher at him and said, "You are crazy; you can't put out this fire!"

The hummingbird then replied, "At least I'm doing my part."

"Hummingbirds Bali is a movement from DOKOYO in an effort to reduce plastic pollution in the ocean, especially the Bali area."

The issue of ocean plastic pollution is a global environmental crisis. It threatens marine life, the health of our planet, and the sustainability of human livelihoods. Bali is a popular tourist destination with beautiful beaches and coral reefs. However, in recent years, Bali has seen a dramatic increase in plastic waste, causing environmental degradation, and becoming a problem that needs to be addressed.

Bali is located in the center of the Coral Triangle, which is home to more than 600 species of coral, 2,000 species of reef fish, and 6 out of 7 species of sea turtles in the world. However, Bali's marine life is threatened by plastic pollution in its waters. Plastic bags, bottles, straws, and other types of single-use plastics are the main cause of Bali's marine pollution.

Plastic waste generated by Bali's tourism industry is one of the main contributors to this problem. Tourists often use single-use plastic items, and the island's infrastructure is not equipped to handle the volume of waste generated. In addition, the lack of a comprehensive waste management system means that plastic waste often ends up in Bali's waterways, eventually reaching the ocean.

The impact of plastic pollution on Bali's ocean and marine life is devastating. Sea turtles, for example, often mistake plastic bags for jellyfish and swallow them, causing serious health problems, including death. Coral reefs, which are critical to the survival of many marine species, are also affected by plastic pollution. Plastic debris covers corals, blocking sunlight and oxygen, causing coral bleaching, and eventually leading to coral death.

Plastic pollution in Bali's ocean is a serious problem and requires urgent action. Although efforts are being made to address this issue, more needs to be done. It is important to educate tourists and locals about the impacts of plastic pollution and promote sustainable alternatives to single-use plastics. In addition, implementing a comprehensive waste management system and banning the use of single-use plastics is crucial in protecting Bali's marine life and ensuring the sustainability of the island's tourism industry.
