From Photo to Fabric: How We Turn Your Cat Into a DOKOYO Print
Of all the things we make at DOKOYO, nothing gets a bigger reaction than a custom piece arriving with someone’s own cat printed on it. Here is exactly what happens between the moment you send us a photo and the moment you open the package.
1. You send the photo
It does not need to be professional. A clear, well-lit phone photo where we can see your cat’s face and markings is perfect. Sleeping, loafing, mid-yawn — the more personality, the better. Start on our Print Your Cat page.
2. Our illustrators get to work
In our Bali studio, an illustrator redraws your cat as a DOKOYO print — matching the fur gradients, the exact ear tilt, the one whisker that always sticks out. This is the step that makes people cry a little when the package arrives. We mean that as a warning.
3. You approve the design
Before anything touches fabric, we send you the design for approval. Want the eyes greener or the pattern busier? This is the moment to say so — revisions are part of the process, not an extra.
4. Printed, cut and sewn in Bali
Once you approve, we print in high definition onto our lightweight recycled microfiber, cut the panels so your cat lands exactly where they should, and sew the piece by hand. Every custom piece passes the same quality check as our main collection — read more about that on Made in Bali.
5. It ships to you, anywhere
Made when you order it, packed in Bali, shipped worldwide. From photo to fabric, most custom pieces are on their way within days.
